Wehrmacht/ 6×30 Monocular in Case

Description

A monocular in case. It reads: Dienstglas (Service Glass) 6 x 30, the serial number, the manufacturer “rln” for CARL ZEISS JENA, GERMANY and a triangle.
Monoculars were made for military service only for troops, etc. win weight was a factor. They were also less costly to manufacture. In about 1943 Germany ran out of black pigments and those made later were gray-colored, or yellow or green. The word Dienstglas didn’t appear until 1940. Branch ID’s (Navy, Army, Air) didn’t appear until 1944-45.
