Description

Curious studio portrait photo of a deceased infantry corporal (obergefreiter) wearing Rock Alter-Art M33. When the photo was taken the individual in question was a soldier, it is clear that over time and during the war he was promoted to first corporal, and earned the EK2, the infantry assault badge (Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen) and the wounded badge in black (Verwundetenabzeichen Schwarz), these awards are painted, since they did not have recent photos, it was typical to add them as they were won, or when they died they were painted as a souvenir. In the back, also typical of the time in the portraits of the deceased, as a souvenir, the photo of the parents or grandparents who were also deceased was placed. It measures 47cm X 36cm.
