Description
German Field Badge of Honor (*Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen*), known as the “Hamburg Cross” (*Hamburg Kreuz*). It is a highly attractive piece, shaped like an eight-pointed star, featuring a silver-colored finish and white enamel. The central oval plaque depicts a German soldier in full field gear; the reverse bears the inscription “DEUTSCHES FELD EHRENZEICHEN” (German Field Badge of Honor), along with an address in Hamburg.
Produced during the Weimar Republic, it was a semi-official award that World War I veterans could purchase; it was banned in November 1935. In excellent condition.
