Description

Extremely rare presentation box with the Medal of Honor for the Promotion of Hitler’s Youth Hostel Construction Program (Heim der Hitlerjugend). Weighing 112 grams and 70 mm in diameter in German silver-plated, it has a flat field and is slightly domed from the edge. Superimposed on this is a very fine three-dimensional eagle holding a crown of loose-leaved oak leaves, six on each side. The HJ membership diamond is superimposed on the crown field, its upper tip barely touching the inner claw of the eagle’s foot and the lower one simply breaking the outer and lower line of the crown. There is a coiled circular banner that runs from under the eagle’s wing and over its head to return under the other wing. In raised Gothic script, is the inscription, ‘HEIM DES HITLER JUGEND’, which translates to Home of the Hitler Youth. The reverse has a flat field with the six-line inscription in the center, in capital letters ‘FÜR DIE, FÖRDERUNG, DER, HEIMBESCHAFFUNG, DER, HITLER – JUGEND’. Below is a sprig of four oak leaves and an acorn. The inscription translates as, to promote or sponsor Hitler’s youth hostel construction program. Around the bottom edge of the medal, in small raised capital letters, is the manufacturer’s name “Deschler München” (highest quality) the same jewelry firm approved by the party to make the Gold Reich Party Badges, the Senate Culture Badge, and many higher NSDAP awards. Book example. Very hard to find.
