Description
This is an absolutely original Ausweis or identity document from the “Gross-Paris” district (Befristeter Ausweis zum Aufenthalt in der Innenstadt von Paris) issued on January 4, 1943, under No. 109068, during the German occupation. This document allowed “Braum” with Feldsport No. 436756 to visit central Paris until the 9th. The pass, as stated, is “non-transferable and only valid upon presentation of the soldbuch.” It was signed by a lieutenant on behalf of the Commandant of Gross-Paris, and bears the Luftwaffe Feldoststempel (Field Post Office) stamp, reading “Luftwaffenhandor” (Air Force Location). It measures 9.5 x 13.5 cm.
On the back are the regulations that had to be observed, information about the curfew hours (23:00 for the troops, 24:00 for non-commissioned officers without sabers and 01:00 for non-commissioned officers with sabers) and the address of the General Command (Platzkommandantur) at Place de l’Opéra No. 2.
