Description

Third pattern of the National Socialist German Party (NSDAP) Badge (Parteiabzeichen) made by E. Schmidhaussler RZM M1/128 (24 mm) and with pin made by Paul Schulze & Co., Lübeck, very rare. The earlier standard RZM badges come in two variants of mark placement on the reverse: marks on top and marks on the bottom, the “top” variant has a semicircular type of writing and is less common. In fact all badges from this maker are very rare. This version of the badge is notable for its high quality enamel placement, the larger size, the less spherical, almost flat, curved shape as well as the lack of silver plating on the bronze base of the badge. Fire-enamelled in red, the outer circle features the embossed silver writing “National-Sozialistiche- DAP” on the reverse. The reverse has a light bronze patina finish, and the “RZM” code “M1/128” is clearly defined within a double circle, along with its badge and pin, manufactured by Paul Schulze & Co., Lübeck. Its enamel remains intact. Uncleaned. Excellent condition. The first of its kind we have found in over 20 years. Textbook.

Note: These are very rare to find of this model. The exact reason for this double-sided manufacture is unknown. There have been various and varied opinions over time from scholars of this type of badge, but nothing conclusive. Very rare and in excellent condition.
