Wehrmacht/ Army General Visor Cap by Clemens Wagner
Description
Private purchase and of excellent quality, this genuine and well preserved General’s “Alter Art” style visor cap (Schirmmütze) with an elegant saddle form (Sattelform), is of early time, the nickel/silver national eagle, the cocarda of good quality with a crown of oak leaves hand-embroidered in silver/aluminium threads, it encompasses a three-piece alloy national tricolor cockade in high relief, it maintains its vivid colors and its gold piping (waffenfarbe) intact. On the inside, of tan yellow rayon, we can see the intact celluloid trapezoid with the manufacturer’s mark “Clemens Wagner” and on the leather, which is intact, bears the stamp of the dealer “A. Breiser”. The vulcanized fiber visor lacquered in black like new. As you can see in the photos, it has a small tear and two very small moth holes on the outer band that cannot be seen if the lid is not lifted. A size 57/58 approximately.
Excellent example of an “Alter Art” style general visor cap with shape “Sattelform”. This was very popular at the time among officers and high command, they removed the chin strap and the two buttons on the sides, there is a lot of photographic documentation of the time where you can see it perfectly.
